Romance or Imagination

Romance must be a surprise. Flowers everyday would soon become meaningless. Flowers are romantic, but not when they become habit because the significance of the symbol of love they represent becomes meaningless. It takes imagination, a dinner out, a phone call that says "I just wanted to tell you I love you" and then hanging up, a flower out of the garden by a breakfast plate, filling the gas tank, packing a lunch. These things feed the relationship and the esteem of the other person. They feed them in there simplicity and there variation. They are small acts of thoughtfulness easily given and easily accepted. And they don't overbalance the relationship Each partner must be alert to maintaining an equality so that one does not become the giver and the other the taker.
